Malawi: The Standard bank of Malawi has received appreciation from the Vice President Saulos Chilima for its commitment to support development in the country. The institution has been working to support the development avenues of the country.
The Vice President Chilima made the remarks today at Lilongwe Golf Club. He was, at the time present at the prize presentation of this year’s Standard Bank Golf tournament. The representatives of the Standard bank were also present at the event
“As a country we are looking forward to more of Standard Bank’s efforts to elevate the country’s economy,” said Chilima.
Standard Bank Board Chairperson, Christopher Kapanga has promised the government of Malawi his complete support and commitment to the country. He said that agriculture and tourism sectors are areas in which they are concentrating much.
“Malawi is an agricultural-driven nation, and because of that we have partnered with the Greenbelt Authority, Inoselia Greenbelt Greenhouse Limited farm and GGL, one of the biggest producers of high quality tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, watermelons, cucumbers, lettuce and cauliflower, ” he said.
Furthermore, Kapanga said that Standard Bank will continue standing with Malawi despite the many social economical challenges the country is facing.
He disclosed a youth incubation program through Phuka scheme. The programme is intended to provide startups for the youth to create job opportunities within the country
In his remarks, Philip Madinga Chief Executive Officer for Standard Bank, expressed his gratitude to the bank’s customers for trusting and choosing their bank.
Madinga has also appealed to the nation to embrace the spirit of team work and self-reliance in driving Malawi’s economy.
Two lucky winners in today’s Standard Bank Golf tournament walked away with 900 thousands kwacha each. The people of Malawi have also shared their appreciation for the efforts that the organization is doing for the benefit of the country.
