Man assaulted for refusing to pay for gumboots

Guruve, Zimbabwe: A thirty-three-year-old man from Guruve village was assaulted by a colleague. The incident took place on Monday and was followed by an altercation over gumboots, which the suspect had refused to pay for.

As per the sources, the victim’s mother is reported to have sold the gumboots to the suspect – Bayisai Scotch age 28, who later refused to pay.

Unfortunately, the refusal by the suspect resulted in an altercation between the victim, Isaac Kusikwenyu and Scotch.

According to the allegations, Scotch then hit Kusikwenyu with a log, which led to his death.

The National Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner – Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said that the Police in Guruve had arrested Bayisai Scotch aged 28.

“In connection with a case of murder which occurred on January 01, 2024, at Marirambada Farm. The murder case led to the death of Isaac Kusikwenyu aged 33 on January 02, 2024, after being hit with a log on the head,” mentioned Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

The spokesperson added, “The suspect had refused to pay for gumboots which had been sold to him by the victim’s mother.”

Meanwhile, the police of Bulawayo have asked for information that may help them in assisting the investigation. The police is still solving the murder case as in which a woman is yet to be identified as she was found dead with swollen lips and cuts on the head and knees.

The lady was found dead in a bushy area at Denver Farm in Cowdray Park. At the time of the murder, the victim was wearing a red and white coloured dress and a charcoal-grey hood jacket.

Notably, anyone with information that might assist with investigations should contact any nearest police station.

After the news got spread, the former Chief executive officer of Zimbabwe Republic Police, Clifford Kasema, informed that the gunshot was a mistake. “that was a mistake. He wanted to discipline him only, not to kill,” said the officer.
