KwaZulu Natal (Grangetown): A suspect is being sought after he forcefully performed oral sex on a man on New Year’s Day (01/01/2024).
The victim reported his case to the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA). As per the RUSA officer, he flagged down one of the RUSA members on the corner of Russom & Todd Street at approximately 3:46 p.m. on Wednesday.
The man informed the Reaction Officer that on Monday, he was walking to his residence in Everest Heights from the Verulam CBD – KZN during a thunderstorm when the driver of a silver Renault Triber offered him a lift.
He said he accepted the ride home but doubted when the Good Samaritan drove around Grangetown and stopped near a school ground. The male driver intentionally pressed a firearm and instructed him to unzip his pants.
The victim further stated that the man masturbated and reprimanded him for taking too long to get erect. The suspect was then forced to perform oral sex on the victim before dropping him off at his residence.
The victim registered a criminal case, the Verulam SAPS. He later noticed the suspect driving on Russom Street shortly after leaving the Police Station. He thereafter flagged the passing Reaction Officer for assistance. Officers conducted a search for the suspect, but no arrests were made.
The victim provided Reaction Officers with a case number registered at the South African Police Services.
Residents are in shock as they consider this crime a Sexual assault. One of the residents, named Ayesha Hoosen, said, “I’m just glad he laid a charge. This is a sexual assault, be it a man or a woman; it is a serious offence. Glad he is strong enough to have this person arrested.”
One of the locals shared interesting news on the official page of RUSA in which she said, “I knew Verulam was involved somewhere in this… But seriously…if there is some creepo giving BJs by force. This guy can either work on the side of the road offering his services if he is so desperate to give. Or he should just catch a few klaps.. #dontbecreepy.”
Furthermore, she continued by saying, “I really hope the victim seeks some form of counselling as a simple task of walking down the road won’t even be the same…Sad.. because we as women and men are not safe in this world anymore.”
