Reports also indicated that so many of the roads in and around Umhlanga have collapsed, and there is widespread damage throughout Durban.

This is the third continuous time that these flash floods have come out since 2022. Residents seem to be angry as they say that every time when it rains here in Durban it turns into floods.

In response to the floods, SA Foundation is mobilizing efforts to provide immediate assistance. They said, “We are raising funds to supply essential resources for the affected families, including food, clean water, and emergency supplies.”

Response teams reported hundreds of calls for help as the floods trapped people after being surprised by the storm. A number of roads have either partially collapsed or washed away, particularly inland of Tongaat at Emona and in the Glenhills area of KwaDukuza.

Roads are blocked with rain water. The government are appealing to the public to avoid going out and prefer to be at home as almost all roads are blocked.
