Northern Cape, South Africa: The MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari, is deeply saddened by Mr Dikago Pule’s passing in an accident involving three vehicles near Slurry outside Mahikeng this morning.

Dikago Pule was a member of the North West Public Transport Intervention Team (NWPTIT) and left towards the end of last year to join public service.

“This is devastating news for a life lost at such a ridiculously young age. Dikago Pule was a raw talent who sharpened his political acumen as a student leader at the North West University and has just been elected as the Ngaka Modiri Molema regional treasurer”, said MEC Lehari.

The accident happened just after midnight on Sunday, 23rd of July 2023, on R49 between Zeerust and the Provincial capital Mahikeng.

The initial report suggests a bakkie driving from Mahikeng towards Zeerust lost the right wheel mid-speed and collided with an oncoming vehicle going the opposite direction driven by Dikago Pule. The other vehicle, which was behind Dikago Pule’s vehicle, drove onto the accident scene, lost control and overturned.

All the injured passengers, including the three drivers were taken to the Provincial hospital. Dikago Pule was confirmed to have passed on at the hospital and was the only fatality of the accident. MEC Lehari sent condolences to the Pule family and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

“We wished strength to the family of Cde Dikago Pule, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during the difficult time of grief. We also wish the injured speedy recovery,” said MEC Lehari.
