North West: The MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Sello Lehari will lead a delegation of senior managers and employees of the department to bid farewell to Provincial Inspector (PI) Motshidisi Mokotedi.
PI Mokotedi, who was 31 years of age at her untimely demise, was brutally murdered in December, allegedly at the hands of her partner.
MEC Lehari has condemned in the strongest terms the vicious actions that led to her death. The MEC has also applauded law enforcement for a swift response in dealing with the matter following the apprehension of a 43-year-old man.
PI Mokotedi was attached to the Department’s Road Traffic Management Directorate and was part of the newly established Eagles unit.
MEC Sello Lehari also shared condolences with the family of Motshidisi Mokotedi. He said,”My heart is so broken. Memories are getting me through. Tears are flowing and crying. Sad – but we have put all efforts in place to seek answers and justice! I came again to the family of Mokotedi, as we prepare to lay to rest our sister, a member of the Eagles, officer Motshidisi.”
The family of the 31-year-old traffic officer, who was allegedly murdered by her partner, is reeling from the tragedy. Motshidisi Mokotedi’s body was discovered on Wednesday (3 January 2023) in Rustenburg, where she was stationed. According to the police, alarm bells went off after Mokotedi failed to report for duty.
