Ministry of Water Environment holds 13th site meeting and inspection of construction work

South Africa: The Ministry of Water Environment Officials from Water and Sanitation Development Facility-North, led by the Branch Manager Engineer Catherine Agwai Angwec, together with consulting Engineers Salzgitter (CES) and the Leadership of Amuru District Local Government, held the 13th site meeting and inspection of construction works for Bibia Elegu Rural Growth Centre Water Supply and Sanitation Facilities in Amuru District.

South Africa: The Ministry of Water Environment Officials from Water and Sanitation Development Facility-North, led by the Branch Manager Engineer Catherine Agwai Angwec, together with consulting Engineers Salzgitter (CES) and the Leadership of Amuru District Local Government, held the 13th site meeting and inspection of construction works for Bibia Elegu Rural Growth Centre Water Supply and Sanitation Facilities in Amuru District.

The aim of the field exercise was to assess the progress of ongoing construction works, which is currently at 90%.

The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Water and Environment through the Water and Sanitation Development Facility-North, funded by the Government of Uganda with support from the German Government through KfW and consulting Engineers Salzgitter as the International Management Consultant.

WSDF-North contracted Palm Construction Company Ltd to undertake the construction works and Joadah Consults Ltd as the consultant.

This system is expected to serve seven Villages in two Parishes with a targeted design population of 23,322 beneficiaries by the ultimate year 2041.

The Project scope of work includes:

•Provision of 300 service connections and 19 public stand posts.
•Construction of 2 borehole pump houses
•Supply and installation of 2 submersible pumps
•Construction of 2 storage water reservoirs
•Laying of approximately 15.8km OD 160 uPVC PN16 and 3.85km OD 63 HDPE PNI0 of
transmission main
•Laying of approximately 18.54km of distribution network, 12Km of intensification
•Construction of a water office
•Construction of Pump houses and guard houses
•Construction of 1; 14 stances waterborne toilet block for public use
•Construction of 3; 5 Stance VIP latrines for institutions
•Construction of 2;2 Stance VIP latrines for staff for both Elegu and Bibia Primary School.

The Ministry of Water and Environment also tweeted and gave information to the audience about the Bibia Elegu Rural Growth Centre Water Supply and Sanitation Facilities is expected to serve seven Villages in two Parishes with a targeted design population of 23,322 beneficiaries by the ultimate year 2041.

Moreover, the construction of Bibia Elegu Water Supply and Sanitation Facilities is being implemented by @min_waterUg through the Water and Sanitation Development Facility-North, funded by the Government of Uganda with support from the German Government.
