Botswana: The President of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, has departed for the Limpopo Province in South Africa. This is the first time since the devastating incident which claimed the lives of 45 easter pilgrims.
The accident happened in the Mmamatlakala area near the Limpopo Province of the country. After the accident, the government of South Africa supported the repatriation of the 45 dead bodies back to Botswana.
The aim of the trip was to extend a deep and heartfelt gratitude to the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa for their support. The President of Botswana Mokgweetsi Masisi has already landed in the Limpopo Province for the one day meeting.
President Ramaphosa will be receiving his fellow African leader at the Airport. They will reflect on the tragic loss of the 45 lives and also visit the site of the accident. President Masisi is accompanying a delegation of high level government officials and Ministers of Botswana to the trip.

- Annah Mokgethi, Minister for State President
- Oabile Regoeng, Minister of Labour and Home Affairs
- Member of Parliament for Molepolole North Kgosi Kgari Sechele III
- Kgosi ya Bakwena Oreeditse Sola Molebatsi
- Minister and Head of Generale, Botswana, St Engenas ZCC
- Senior Officials of the administration from the Republic of Botswana
The meetings between the countries will conclude within the day and the President of Botswana will be departing from Livingstone by the evening of March 11. The fatal accident which motivated the two leaders to come together has had a profound impact on the people.
The government of Botswana has extended their support to the affected families who have lost their loved ones in the tragedy. All the communities of Botswana have come forward to aid the people in coming to terms with the incident which has shaken many members of the country.
