Zambia: A mother of 9 in Chikonga area of Monze has received monetary support for her children’s care. Four of the woman’s nine children were born with no eyesight, which makes them heavily dependent on the mother.
The woman, identified as Conceptor Simuuma had called on the members of the community to support her in giving education to her children. Notably, visually impaired children need extra support in their educational careers.
Accordingly, the mother came out looking for assistance in meeting multiple requirements for her children’s education. The mother of nine received a donation of K5,000 from a well-wisher in Choma who was moved by the Monze-based woman’s story.
The donor has been identified as Isaac Ngoma, a retired Zambia Railways worker. He spoke to the media about the motivation of his donation. He further noted that he heard the woman’s story and was moved to try and support her in her ordeal.
Ngoma stated that he took a portion of his pension benefits to reach out and share with the family.
The victim received the money and support from the donor on Tuesday. She was overwhelmed with gratitude for the donation that came her way through the generous donor.
Receiving the money on Tuesday, Simuuma expressed gratitude to the donor. She noted that apart from school requirements, it has been hard to fend for the family.
She reasoned that four of her children needed constant supervised care which makes it difficult for her to work. She is accordingly unable to provide for her children and provide them with the life they deserve.
She further stated that the current prevailing hunger is caused by the drought has also affected her household as they depend on farming. She further claimed that the children tend to go into the bush to look for remains of wild fruits.
Simuuma shared that she was very happy to receive educational assistance for her children.
