South Africa: The Mpumalanga Department of Education will, from today, 02 June 2022, host the Provincial ABC Motsepe South African School Choral Eisteddfod at EMalahleni Civic Centre.
The four-day musical extravaganza will feature primary, secondary and special school learners from the four education districts and will be concluded on Sunday, 05 June 2022.
The programme will commence from 09H00 every day and is scheduled as follows:
Day 01 (02 June 2022): Primary Special School and junior choirs (Grade 3 & 4)
Day 02 (03 June 2022): Intermediate Choirs (Grades 4 – 7)
Day 03 (04 June 2022): Secondary Special Schools and Opera
Day 04 (05 June 2022): Male and Female, A and B mixed choirs
The schools’ choral music is part of the extra curricular activities, which are important for the holistic development of learners throughout their learning experience.
This is a strategic programme which seeks to promote unity in diversity, moral uprightness, national reconciliation and social cohesion amongst learners in all the schools through mass participation.
“Attending the choral music competitions is always a soothing experience as we marvel at the beautiful talent displayed by these learners through their harmonised vocal cords.
We thus urge parents and school communities to encourage children to participate in the school’s choral music as they also play a meaningful role towards cognitive development.”
Parents and Community members are encouraged to attend and support this program.
