Malawi: In a significant move toward local development, the administration of Mwanza district has announced plans to commence construction of a cutting-edge stadium in the district. The residents of Mwanza district are extremely happy with the administration of the district.
The state-of-the-art stadium is anticipated to accommodate 5000 spectators, and carries a price tag of K2.6 billion.
The construction of the new stadium will help the administration in promoting sports and athletic activities among the youth. The groundbreaking ceremony for the stadium was hosted on Friday, January 26.
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera led the citizens of the district and participated in the groundbreaking ceremony. The construction of the stadium is extremely important for the long-anticipated stadium.
The sports stakeholders of the Mwanza district have been looking forward to the construction of the new stadium. The players of the country have come forward to share their appreciation for the new developments.
Luwaluwa Odala, a player for Mwanza Eagles, and his fellow athletes hailed the initiative as well-timed. He also called the construction of the stadium a commendable step forward in local development.
“Districts like Balaka host Super League games due to their modern stadiums. This will attract such games, fostering tremendous growth in football,” remarked Odala.
Mayeso Sitole, representing Mwanza Academy, echoed the sentiments, stating, “The new stadium will propel football growth, providing players like myself with exposure and opportunities to join Super League teams.”
In addition to the stadium project, President Chakwera will also inspect 10 nearly completed staff housing units for police officers during his visit to the district. The Malawi leader has been reiterating that his administration seeks to improve the welfare of the citizenry, including the men and women in uniform
