South Africa: Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to Ntombe opposite Trenance Park in Verulam – KZN after receiving reports of an alleged kidnapping of three (3) year old girls.
On arrival at approximately 13:03, Reaction Officers met with the child’s mother, who stated that the minor had been located inside their house prior to the arrival of First Responders.
The woman explained that both her children were playing in the backyard. Her eight year old son left his sister alone to use the toilet. When he returned, his sister could not be located.
Their mother searched frantically with the assistance of neighbours without success. She went on to inform Officers that during the search, they noticed the child had been carried by a female several hundred meters from their location. She alleged that the search party proceeded to the vicinity; however, the kidnapper and the child could not be located. They then contacted RUSA for assistance.
When she returned to her residence, she located the child inside the house. She believed that the kidnapper returned to the home and dropped off the child.
Moreover, a neighbour refuted the woman’s claims stating that the child was hiding in the house out of fear after her mother threatened to assault her for being mischievous.
The neighbour’s version could not be confirmed as the child’s mother denied the allegations.
