The Oyo State Police Command has arrested an individual after the said individual made a kidnap to kill threat towards a resident of Seni Salla Village, Saki, and members of his family. The individual against whom the suspect made the threat is reportedly 50 year old.
The victim reached out to police on September 19, 2026, at about 6:20pm. The complainant has identified himself as Metu Jilani, and reported to the authorities that he had received threatening telephone calls from unknown persons on Tuesday September 13, 2026. According to the victim, the caller informed him that someone had hired the caller to kidnap and kill him and members of his family.
The caller also warned that if the victim tried flee, the action would result in the abduction of Jilani’s younger brother. After threatening the victim, the callers, which were more than singular, made financial demands.
The callers provided the victim with account details for a Point-of-Sale operator, Muhydeen Salihu of Gwasoro Village, via Kosubosu, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, The victim was asked to deposit a sum of ₦3 million into the account of the aforementioned individual.
The Police Command confirmed that the complainant transferred ₦100,000 into the designated account instead of the full amount wjidh the callers had demanded.
The Police officers were able to gather an investigative lead as a result of this transaction and focus their attention on the individual who would eventually attempt to access the money. The police force then worked out their possible connection to the threats.
On September 18, at about 10:00 AM, two men, who were identified as Hantsi Abdullahi of Boseperu, Kosubosu, Baruten LGA, Kwara State, and Hantsi Liman of the same address, went to the POS operator to withdraw the money.
Abdullahi was arrested by the police force while he was attempting to access the money, meanwhile, Liman escaped from the scene. After the arrest had been made, the first culprit was attacked by an angry mob before the police force intervened.
