I can finally enjoy the smell of the open sea, the lush green fields,
taste the mountain dew and light afternoon rain.
I love reimagining the sun’s reflection as it pools like water on my face
when I take dawn walks on the beach.
I especially relish the firm hands of lazy mornings
tugging on my sleepy eyelids,
as I reacquaint myself
with the tasty melodies of birds tickling the fabric of my ears.
I am quickly relearning how to savour the sweet nuances of silence.
Frolicking with time without concerns for alarms and deadlines.
All I hear is the soft, giddy rush of lie-ins
and the smooth smell of coffee waltzing gently through the air.
I now know the satisfaction of watching time idle;
of hearing my breath whisper sighs of relief;
and of witnessing the sea stretching up to kiss the sun.
No rush hour.
No boisterous vehicles.
Only peace in the company of silence.
Finally,
I can sit back and enjoy doing nothing.
And watch the day unfold at its own pace.
No banners and fanfare.
No urgent calls.
Only the relaxed feeling of relaxing.
