South Africa, KwaZulu Natal, Durban: A Mobile Phone Technician was brutally assaulted after his customer blamed him for the distribution of his wife’s nude pictures & videos.
The foreign national operating from a store on the Durban North Coast (specific details withheld) in Kwazulu Natal contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on Friday, 24/11/2023, seeking assistance.
The thirty seven (37) year old man informed Reaction Officers that he was brutally assaulted with clenched fists, booted feet & a metal pipe on Thursday, 23/11/2023, evening by his customer. He was treated by a local doctor but was in severe pain after suffering facial & bodily injuries.
According to the victim, he was approached by a male customer earlier last week wanting to change the screen on a Samsung Smartphone. He quoted the customer and ordered the screen. The screen was delayed, and the customer left his phone with the technician for the night. He returned the next day, fetched the phone and paid in full.
According to the Phone Technician, the customer returned on Thursday at approximately 16:40 and began using obscene language on him. The furious customer accused him of distributing home made pornographic videos & pictures of his wife. He then began assaulting the technician.
During the assault, the customer repeatedly blamed the technician, stating that the phone was only in possession of the repair store and no one else could have circulated the pornography. The videos have since been circulating on social media.
The Phone Technician has denied the allegations & is in possession of contact details that would lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator.
A criminal case has notified been registered at this stage. Residents are in deep shock as the shop was preety much popular. One of the locals said, “I understand the frustration of the customer and the damage, but then, I always wonder why anybody would take pictures and videos of themselves naked. What purpose does this serve, honestly? This is just my opinion, and not saying everyone should agree though.”
