St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with the President of Nigeria – Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He strengthened the diplomatic and developmental ties with the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This followed a high-level courtesy call.
Reportedly, the meeting underscored a deepening relationship between the Caribbean and Africa. It was a grounded engagement in shared history, mutual respect, and a clear commitment to advancing tangible cooperation across the key sectors.
As the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis and Chair of CARICOM – Dr. Terrance Drew made it clear that deepening Africa-Caribbean relations remains a central pillar of his foreign policy agenda. It focuses mainly on transforming historical connections into modern partnerships that deliver real opportunities in trade, investment, culture and human development.
Considering the meeting, PM Drew also shared glimpses on his official social media handle and stated that he met with Nigeria’s President – Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They had a lengthy conversation in the meeting, on strengthening cooperation in education, agriculture, food security and cultural exchange. They also discussed about advancing deeper collaboration between Africa and the Caribbean.
They affirmed that St. Kitt s and Nevis and Nigeria will continue to strengthen the bridge between Africa and the Caribbean, moving from shared history to shared progress.
Prime Minister Drew also expressed profound appreciation for the hospitality and leadership demonstrated by the Nigerian President. It also highlighted the significance of the engagement for both regions.
Drew further emphasised that the relationship between Nigeria and the Caribbean continues to evolve in meaningful ways. He noted that this collaboration has been tremendous. It has a tremendous impact on the development and advancement of the Caribbean, coming from Nigeria, which is a significant country in the African continent and in the world.
Dr. Drew also used the opportunity to reflect on the deep ancestral and cultural connections that bind the people of St. Kitts and Nevis to Nigeria, which particularly referencing the historical ties to the Calabar region. He stated that this is their people, and they always say, they have come back home. This is always a pleasure to be back.
He reinforced the emotional and historical significance of the visit. Notably, the discussions mainly focused on a wide range of priority areas that aims at strengthening cooperation and delivering real, measurable outcomes for citizens across both the regions.
