Mauritius: The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam has committed to ensuring that the safety of the pilgrims is taken into highest priority. The officials have shared that the Mauritian population is gearing up for the celebration of Mahashivratri and Thaipoosam Cavadee.
Both the festivals will be observed in the month of February and has the attention of several stakeholders. The leaders have shared that they hosted a meeting with the concerned stakeholders. The Prime Minister insisted that Security of pilgrims is of the utmost importance for Thaipoosam Cavadee and Maha Shivaratri.
In line with the concerns of the people of the country, the Prime Minister has shared that it is important to have community support. The Taskforce Meeting with concerned stakeholders was hosted at the New Treasury Building in Port-Louis.
Several Ministers of the Mauritius administration were present at the event along with the Prime Minister. He underscored that the people participating in the religious practice should focus on spirituality.
He noted that competition should not be a part of the practice and urged the Kanwar yatris to remain disciplined. He said that the pilgrims should follow the instinct of self sacrifice and devotion while observing this practice.
The celebrations for Thaipoosam Cavadee and Maha Shivaratree will be organized in the various parts of the island nation. The administration promised that the event will be hosted in the best possible circumstances.
Prime Minister Ramgoolam has highlighted that that his meeting with the stakeholders served as a platform for dialogue. During the meeting, the Prime Minister focused on the suggestions and concerns of the stakeholders.
He also wanted to address various issues that would be to ensure the smooth running of the two religious celebrations. He pointed out that proper health services will also be provided on 24 hour basis.
Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam shared that a site visit will be organized for the devotees at Ganga Talao. The visit will be done during January 2025 during which, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by various Ministers.
