St Kitts and Nevis: The government of St Kitts and Nevis is participating in the 61st Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The Directing Council is being hosted at the PAHO Headquarters in Washington, DC.

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis shared some images from the event on their social media. He highlighted that St Kitts and Nevis has been selected to serve on the General Committee of the 61st Directing Council.

The officials have shared that PAHO has been working with the American and the Caribbean Region, discussing the healthcare challenges of the region. The Health ministers from all over St Kitts and Nevis will be present at the Directing council.

They will be working towards finding the solutions for the issues that the Pan American Health Organization for the success of the organization. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew also met with Dr. Jarbas Barbosa da Silva.

He and the Director of the Pan American Health Organization centered on several important issues. He highlighted that the discussion was both productive and insightful. During their meeting, the officials were able to  focus on important matters pertaining to health and Caribbean.

They discussed several issues such and addressed the issue of violence from the perspective of a public health issue and tackling the critical health challenges faced by Small Island Developing States.

The Prime Minister accompanied a delegation of high-level officials from the Ministry of health including the chief Medical Officer, Dr Hazel laws. Prime Minister Drew also handles the responsibility for the Ministry of Health in St Kitts and Nevis.

He was also accompanied by the Director of Community Health Services in St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Sheneil Isles.

In line with this, he had made it a point to attend to all the meetings hosted by thee PAHO and keep himself in the loop for the members of the community. They want to make sure that had the opportunity to meet with several PAHO stakeholders and keep himself in the loop with any and all new developments
