St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew observed the Roundtable Conference on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He engaged with members of the media to address major issues and matters of national interest.
During the conference, PM Drew outlined key national developments spanning healthcare, land acquisition and regional diplomacy. He emphasised on describing measurable progress across St. Kitts and Nevis.
Healthcare and Infrastructure Development
Prime Minister Drew highlighted that the country recorded zero maternal deaths in 2025. The nation attributed milestone to improved monitoring systems led by the Ministry of Health.
This majorly targeted care for high-risk pregnancies and financial support mechanisms. Overall mortality also declined during the period. He also noted that a new MRI facility is nearing completion and is 90% complete. He described it as the first specialised building of its kind.
In addition to this, a government funded desalination plant will be operational soon from February 24, 2026, which will produce approx. Two million gallons of portable water daily, for which drilling is underway, and it ensures consistent supply nationwide.
Frigate Bay Land Acquisition
PM Terrance Drew announced the acquisition of 77.23 acres of prime land by the government in Frigate Bay. This includes the golf course and associated facilities which is under full state ownership.
This land will be subdivided to support the residential and commercial development, prioritising access for young citizens and professionals. Another Half Moon Bay is earmarked for potential luxury development. The acquisition was financed through the Citizenship by Investment Programme.
Regional Leadership and Social Projects
Dr. Drew addressed the regional affairs, and as a chairman he is actively engaging Caribbean Leaders ahead of the 50th regular meeting of CARICOM, to be held in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.
He further emphasised the importance of in-person diplomacy to strengthen the coordination across the bloc. Domestically, he announced the new social support measures, including the financial contributions to breast cancer organisations and plans to establish a prostate health foundation.
These initiatives include refurbishment of the Cardin Home and expanded water infrastructure, reinforcing the focus of administration on healthcare, social protection and long-term development.
