St. Kitts and Nevia: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew visited Guyana on Saturday, February 21, 2026. He had a productive discussion with President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and senior members of the Government.
The meeting looked forward towards the discussions that were focused mainly on deepening collaboration between the St. Kitts and Nevis and Guyana, and the wider CARICOM.
As the Chairman of CARICOM – Dr. Terrance Drew remained committed to strengthen the bilateral relationships. He believes that when they work together, they build a stronger and more resilient Caribbean for their people, living there.
He stated that the future of the region depends on partnership, practical cooperation and unity of purpose. And they are exactly advancing this.
Following the meeting in Guyana, Prime Minister Drew grabbed the opportunity to visit the National Command Centre. It is the nerve centre of their intelligence and was coordinated by the crime-fighting operations.
As crime is not confined by borders, it is a regional challenge, which is complex and still evolving. Yet it requires modern, strategic and collaborative responses. They saw firsthand how Guyana integrates technology, intelligence and inter-agency coordination to strengthen the public safety which was both insightful and instructive.
PM Drew further stated that there is much more that they can learn from each other. This engagement opens the door for deeper collaboration between St. Kitts and Nevis and Guyana. It also contributes to a broader CARICOM conversation on strengthening the regional security frameworks.
He stated that as CARICOM Chairman, he ensured that the cooperation goes beyond meetings and into meaningful, practical action for the safety and protection of the people.
Prime Minister Drew concluded his visit to Guyana, after meeting the CARICOM Secretary-General – Dr. Carla Barnett, at the newly constructed CARICOM Residence in Georgetown. They discussed about the preparations for the upcoming Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM. He stated that the work continues, strengthening the regional unity, sharpening the priorities and moving the Community forward with purpose.
