The police force of Edo State has received the reports of a mob attack claiming the lives two on-duty police officers.

Edo State: The police force of Edo State has received the reports of a mob attack claiming the lives two on-duty police officers in Ikpeshi. The officers who died in the mob attack were on escort duty in the convoy of former Edo House of Assembly member Emmanuel Agbaje

Two other officials, who were also a part of the convoy were also injured in the attack. Notably, the  incident happened in Ikpeshi, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo State.

The incident occurred when a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to escort duty policemen in the Member of Assembly’s convoy collided with a motorbike. The collision is claimed to have killed the rider, a lady, and her child.

After the incident happened, a group of youngsters from the Ikpeshi village tracked down the police officers and battered them to death. The convoy had a total of four police officers, two of them were injured in the attack.

The injured police officers were rescued by Edo State Vigilante Network operators after the mob attack. The police officers are now being treated at an undisclosed facility in Edo State.

The aim of the youngster group is to ensure that the woman and her child can get the justice that is due to them. The people of the community believe that the people of the country believe that the police officers must be arrested and justice must be served.

Chidi Nwabuzor, the police spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command confirmed the event. He shared the details of the incident noting that the four police officers were from Police Mobile Force (PMF) 19, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.

He also stated that the investigation into the incident was still ongoing, and that the command would provide further information to the public later. The people of the country have taken to their social media account to appreciate the youngsters.

They believe that the police officers were brought to justice through the youngsters’ actions. People think that the youngsters did the right thing.
