KwaZulu Natal (Verulam): Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was requested to be on the lookout for suspects after three (3) offices at the South African Police Services (SAPS) in Verulam – Kwazulu Natal were robbed on Wednesday, 17 January.
South Africa Police Service (SAPS) Officials booking On-Duty on Thursday morning discovered that forced entry was gained into the Sector Managers, Communications and Supply Chain Management offices. As per the reports, several valuables were stolen.
In July 2023, a branded Verulam SAPS vehicle was stolen from the Police Station. It was later recovered on Court Lane in the Verulam CBD – KZN. The suspects drove the Police vehicle off the premises during daylight hours. The stereo and spare tyre were stolen.
A hijacked Isuzu bakkie recovered by Reaction Officers in Mhlasini – KZN last year (2023) was stolen from the Verulam SAPS a week later.
The information posted was supplied to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) by Policemen stationed at the Verulam SAPS.
Residents seemed afraid and said that African laws needed to be changed because it is promoting criminals and nothing else.
“Now. What’s next? Imagine breaking into a police station. Maybe the law needs to be changed about these types of criminal acts,” said the resident.
Furthermore, he continued by saying, “Now, A good question. If a homeowner catches someone breaking into their house and shoots the suspect, not knowing whether he is armed or not. That would be a long, expensive procedure to defend his actions and the like of his family. I’d like to see the responses.”
One of the other users said that living in Livingstone, South Africa, is nothing less than living on a battlefield.
“Living in Verulam is like a battlefield; I wish I could say it’s the water, but you! Water is a thing of the past in Verulam,” said another user.
