South Africa: The Premier of the Free State province, Sefora Ntombela, will tomorrow, Sunday 30 October 2022, visit Petsana village to attend the funeral service of the four children who tragically passed away on Wednesday, 26 October 2022.

Police had reported that the four children, who had been left under the supervision of their elderly grandmother, were playing inside an old car when tragedy struck.

The grandmother raised the alarm when she could not find the children aged two, three and four years old. The deceased children are Lesedi Mnguni (3), Jwalane Goodness (3), Lerato Donald Tshabalala (2) and Mojalefa Mokoena (4). Mnguni and Jwalane are cousins as are Tshabalala and Mokoena.

A relative found them unconscious inside the car and forced the locked door open. When paramedics arrived, they declared the children dead.

In light of this tragedy, Premier Ntombela will tomorrow visit the bereaved families and join the funeral service.

“The tragedy which befell those families is difficult to fathom and undoubtedly unbearable to them. To lose a child is every parent’s worst nightmare, and I can only imagine what they are going through. I call upon all the people of our province to keep their families in our prayers as they come to terms with this devastation. We wish them strength during this difficult time, and may God’s love and mercy shine upon them,” Premier Ntombela said.
