Mauritius: Artist Riaz Auladin and his student Laura Panhard are currently hosting a painting exhibition themed ‘Île Maurice en Lumière. The event is being held at Atelier Art Pour Tous, in Phoenix. from 23 November to 7 December 2024.
The event was attended by a number of art enthusiasts from all over Mauritius. The list of guests also includes some of the government’s representatives.
After the recent Prime Ministerial general elections, this one of the first public mandates of the people’s representatives.
The Minister of Education and Human Resource, Dr Mahend Gungapersad, and the Minister of Arts and Culture, Mahendra Gondeea, visited the exhibition. The visit which took place yesterday afternoon aimed to support the artists’ efforts in fostering creativity.
The support of the people’s representatives was welcomed with open arms by all the participants and artists. The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mahendra Gondeea spoke to the audiences who were present at the exhibition.
Minister of arts et al, Gondeea said that the Government is responsible for promoting artistry and creativity of the people.
The Minister said that they have the right and privilege to support and invigorate the arts in Mauritius. He confirmed his team that reassuring that the Ministry would always stand ready to assist and promote artists.
Commending the efforts of the Artist Riaz Auladin and his student Laura Panhard, along with other artists, he highlighted that the exhibition provided a unique opportunity to relive and reconnect with significant places, fostering a deeper appreciation of local heritage.
Minister Gungapersad also delivered a brief address at the event. He maintains that education is incomplete without an understanding and appreciation of art.
In light of this, the ministry encourages the students to participate in fields such as art, dance, and music. The Minister said that Art enjoys a special privilege and has the power to unite the world
In the opinion of the Minister of education, it brought people closer to the things they love.
The Education Minister also praised the efforts of all the artists involved. He said that the paintings were beautiful and offered a visual treat. He also noted that the government will continue to support the artists of Mauritius.
