According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Traffic Commander, SP Kauma Nsereko Rogers, people need to be aware because some of the roads will be blocked from today, Saturday, April 23, 2022, to allow for the smooth preparations of Lt Gen Muhoozi’s Kainerugaba’s birthday party celebrations.

Furthermore, the commander stated that the traffic that came from Jinja Road is going to be diverted from the right at Wampewo Roundabout to Old Portbell Road. The traffic flow from the Jinja side to the City Centre will remain normal.

As per the SP Nsereko, there will not be going to the right at Lugogo Traffic Lights towards Lugogo bypass if someone is not going to attend the function.

And the right turn will be for those who are going to attend the functions; the rest are to proceed to Wampewo Roundabout and find their destinations as they will be guided by traffic, he added.

Entrance to Lugogo Cricket Oval Grounds, according to SP Nsereko, will be via the main vehicular entrance along Hesketh Bell Road. During the time of the celebrations, the Hesketh Bell will be one way.

Moreover, the guests will be dropped off at the entrance, and the vehicles will be gone from different parking spaces that have been allotted, he added.

According to the KMP Traffic Commander, parking will be at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, City High School, Forest Mall and Game Parking spaces.

However, there is also a parking space at KCCA Grounds Shoprite road where Prophet Mbonye usually holds his movements, said SP Nsereko.

He emphasised that all cars that were found dumped along the road would be pulled to the nearest police station at the owners’ cost and inconvenience.

According to the SP Nsereko, most of the activities have been scheduled in order to take place in and around Kampala, including a marathon.

There are many activities that are scheduled to occur in and around Kampala, which is going to start with a marathon early in the morning from Kololo Ceremonial Grounds through Elgon Terrace – Accacia Avenue – Upper Kololo Terrace – Lugogo Bypass, Kati Kati Junction – Kiira Road – Mulago Round About – Yusuf Lule Road – Fairway Hotel Traffic Lights – Accacia Avenue – Lower Kololo Terrace – Wampewo Avenue – Kololo Ceremonial Grounds,” SP Nsereko said.

He further stated that they expect that the event will be graced by many invited guests, including Heads of State.

The directive has left the organisers of the Rugby Africa Sevens frustrated because of the inconvenience it presents to their event next door.

The Rugby Sevens World Cup Qualifying tournament is scheduled to go down tomorrow, Saturday 23, April 2022, at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
