Tuesday, the 14 of March 2023, was a highly rewarding moment for some of the members of the SA Army Headquarters unit, as they were bestowed with medals during the medal parade, which was held at the National Ceremonial Guard Unit, which is conveniently nestled at the Western part of the administrative Capital, Pretoria.

Their determination, high level of professionalism, great work ethics and their willingness to serve the SA Army, the SA National Defence Force and the country at large did not go unnoticed. The word “Can’t” has never been part of their vocabulary since they joined the SA Army, and it was for this reason that they were honoured for having demonstrated their impactful involvement in the South African Army, the South African National Defence Force, the country, and in the continent when the need arises.

As they say, every person’s experience is different, and every person’s journey is different. There were different categories wherein deserving members were bestowed with medals and including the Tshumelo Ikatelaho medals, Peace Support Medals, General Service medals, Medalje vir Troue Diens, and the Closure Commemorative medals.

Spectators who were in attendance at this memorable event could not tear their eyes away from the men and women on parade who made dazzling impressions with their drills which were unquestionably perfection personified.

During his keynote address, the Officer Commanding SA Army Headquarters, Colonel P.J. Litlhakanyane, who was the main functionary, lauded the recipients for having achieved these big milestones in their military careers. He also expressed his sincerest gratitude to the members for their hard work, loyalty and dedication, which they have demonstrated throughout the years.

The medal parade was undoubtedly a perfect way to lift the morale of these members who had, over the years, defied difficulties to contribute towards the successes that were notched by the SA Army in what it was mandated to do.

The medals that were conferred to the deserving members will go a long way in bolstering their morale so that they can continue to fulfil all SA National Defence Force obligations, which they are committed to with the greatest aplomb.
