Africa Weather Forecast has predicted extreme weather conditions for South Africa from the coming week from December 11th to December 17th. It is forecasted that there will be widespread inclement weather in the central and eastern regions of South Africa as the system moves into the central interior.
The forecasters predicted a weak cold front is expected in the west on Thursday, resulting in isolated storms over the central parts midweek and the far east again from Friday onwards.
MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY: The forecasters added that the common thing on these days is a high chance of showers and thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall.
A low chance of flooding in places over the eastern Highveld and the northeastern regions is expected today (12 December 2023). High chance of light rainfall along the south coast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: Tropical moisture flowing down into the central interior will result in scattered thunderstorms over the central province. However, for the east and west on Thursday but only excluding the west on Friday when the system expands to influence more of the east.
By Friday: The Eastern Cape is expected to have a significant drop in temperature accompanied by partly cloudy skies and light rainfall along the south coast on both days. Although most days in the west and central interior will be hot, there aren’t any heatwave conditions expected.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: High chance of continuous showers and thundershowers with moderate rainfall in the far east, shrinking to lighter rainfall over the central parts as the system moves east on Saturday, resulting in a medium chance of flooding in the northeast.
And although the showers may continue in the far northeast on Sunday, more of the central parts are expected to become clearer and hotter. People are bracing for the upcoming weather conditions.
