Bentiu, South Sudan: Governor Lt Gen Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang attended the funeral rite of late Sultan Robert Tungwar Kueiguong in Rubkona town on Sunday, 16th April 2023.

Senior state government officials attended the funeral rite, the UNMISS field Coordinator in Unity State, communities representatives and chiefs, and the member of the leek community who converged to join the family of late Sultan Robert Tungwar Kueiguong at the funeral rite.

Speaking on behalf of Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang, Salam Maluit, the State Advisor for Peace and Security, described the late Sultan Robert Tungwar Kueiguong as a beacon of peace and unity among the people of Unity State and Leek Community in particular.

On the same note, Advisor Salam called on the Leek community to support and rally behind the leadership of Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang to restore peace in the northern part of the state. He added that the establishment of Rotriak town and the construction of a road linking the Panyigai and Kaikang area of Mayom County is a milestone achievement for the people of Unity State. Advisor Salam also urged the Leek community to cultivate this year in the northern part of Rubkona County, where abundant fertile land exists for agricultural production.

Tungwar Kueiguong has been working as a chief for Unity State for the past 40 years, and he died on Sunday after a short illness at the age of 86. As per his son, his father died in the Promise Hospital in Juba, and he was admitted there for his treatment.

According to Matar Tungwar, his son that this incident occurred after his dad called all his grandchildren, sons and daughters to bring a goat for blessings and then distributed all his property and money and gave them transport so that they could go home back. He also mentioned that his father was genuinely patriotic and a liberator.
