Bentiu: Governor Lt Gen Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang on Tuesday officiated the opening of the Jikany Community Peace and Reconciliation Conference under the theme; Stop Revenge killing for Peaceful Coexistence Among Jikany Community at Bentiu Presbyterian church.
The Jikany Community Peace and Reconciliation Conference brought together delegates and participants from all Payams of Guit County to reconcile and stop the Revenge killing Among the Jikany Community and sections.
The Conference will also deliberate on modalities and draw formidable Rules and Regulations that must be abide by all Jikany Community fraternity in the Country and diaspora.
Addressing the Delegates and participants at Bentiu Presbyterian Church, Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang expressed his sincere greeting and appreciation to all sons and daughters of the Jikany Community and the High Committee tasked to organize a Peace Conference for making this day possible to discuss the stoppage of rampant Revenge killing among Jikany Community.
Governor Dr Manytuil said all of us have been waiting for this day to come and stop this senseless revenge killing among Jikany Community; we are also aware that we need to come together if even we laugh with our teeth, but inside our hearts, something is paining us, the Revenge killing. Nobody benefits from Revenge killing, which can kill our leaders and our intellectuals.
“As we gather here today in the Church of God, we must say NO together to Revenge killing”.
Manytuil added that our interest as a State government is to stop Revenge killing Among Jikany Community. Well, the people of Unity State also need Peace to prevail in Guit County because Peace in Guit County means Peace in the entire Unity State.
Governor Manytuil further stressed that Peace only prevails when we forgive one another and sacrifice for it.
Rev. Peter Gatdet Gatwich, the Chairperson of the Jikany Community High Committee for Peace and Reconciliation Conference, said that the entire Jikany Community and High Committee specifically appreciated Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang for his unwavering support of the Conference right from Juba to Bentiu.
Rev. Peter Gatdet added that the Conference converged together all delegates and participants and invited guests from different institutions to deliberate on a number of issues, most especially the immediate stoppage of killing among the Jikany Community and sections and to agree on formidable Rules and Regulations that must be abide by Jikany Community in the Country and diaspora.
