South Africa: As part of the last push, the Mpumalanga Department of Education will convene Spring Classes for Grade 12 learners starting from 03 to 07 October 2022.
These classes are targeting all secondary schools, which obtained results that are below the 70% mark in the 2021 National Senior Certificate Examinations.
There will be 133 centres where these classes will be held and taught by teachers who were selected based on their best performance in the previous final examinations.
The MEC for Education, Mr Bonakele Majuba, is requesting parents and members of the community to support their children as they attend these Spring Classes.
“It remains an imperative for parents to support this programme by ensuring that learners attend every day and do their assessments. They also need to motivate their children and ensure that nothing diverts them from their studies. Equally, all members of the community are requested to create an enabling environment for these classes to progress without any challenges,” he said.
The Department intends to improve the grade 12 results to an 83% pass rate this time around.
The final examinations will commence on 31 October 2022, as per reports.
