St. Kitts and Nevis: The Government stepping ahead towards development with the construction of the new Basseterre High School on its Victoria Road site. Production of its structural components is already underway, and the first shipments are now leaving Barbados.
Reportedly, the project is entering its next phase as work advances on the ground. The new school represents a major investment in education and national development. It will further deliver a modern learning environment for generations of students to come.
Shipments of foundation kits and structural elements are now arriving in St. Kitts and Nevis. The construction activity will continue to intensify on the historic Victoria Road site. As the work progresses towards the completion of a modern and state-of-the-art educational facility for future generations.
Furthermore, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities for local workers while delivering a school worthy of the proud legacy of Basseterre High School.
Considering this, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew shared a video acknowledging the progress work of the school. He stated that for many of them, Basseterre High School holds a special place in their hearts.
He described that generations of Kittitians and Nevisians passed through its classrooms and studdied there. As they carried the lessons they learned there into every sector of national life. And, today they are working to build a new Basseterre High School, on its original site, which reflects that proud legacy.
Hence, the young people and the teachers deserve a modern learning and teaching environment, and the St. Kitts and Nevis government remains committed to delivering it, said PM Drew.
Dr. Drew highlighted that as construction progresses, the project will create meaningful opportunities for local workers and businesses. Approx. 95% of the workforce for the Basseterre High School will be all local workforce. Around one hundred jobs in total are expected to be made available to Kittitian and Nevisian workers across various trades and support services.
This means clear increase in economic activity for families, opportunities for skilled trades, and increased business for suppliers and service providers within the community. Over the coming months, as shipments continue to arrive and construction advances through each phase step-by-step, the people of St. Kitts and Nevis will begin to see something they have waited for many years. The physical rise of a new Basseterre High School which is a modern institution built to serve upcoming generations.
