St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has refuted the rumours suggesting that the Ministry is facing difficulties in securing land for the construction of the New JNF General Hospital. PM Drew also highlighted that the construction for the new hospital premises is well underway.
The Prime Minister has silenced the rumors which were suggesting that the Ministry has been facing issues in procuring land for the construction of the hospital. However, during his media appearance on April 15, PM Drew confirmed that no such issues are arising and that the construction is under progress.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the construction of the JNF General Hospital is a major project for the twin island nation. As such, it needs significant support and gathering of a large number of resources with the help of stakeholders and partners.
The Minister of Health, accordingly thanked all the partners and stakeholders who have been involved in the various stages of this project. According to PM Drew, the site for the construction of the hospital has been secured and the work has also started.
He assured the people of his country that any reports suggesting that the government has faced problems in securing land for JNF General Hospital are untrue. The plans for the construction of the new hospital are under discussion for several months. PM Drew promised that the hospital will be a state of the art facility.
The construction will also be climate resilient such that the structure can withstand being struck by a Catagory Five Hurricane. The new climate smart hospital is a part of the Country’s Sustainable Island State Agenda.
The SISA has climate resilience and innovation as primary areas of focus. After the completion of the construction, the facility will have a medical research laboratory, a teaching hospital, and a medical school.
With the hospital as a center point, Dr Terrance Drew administration wants to construct a “health city” in the West Farm area.
