St Kitts and Nevis The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew welcomed a team of experts from US to provide emergency room training to the federation’s A&E doctors. The team was led by the Emergency Room Specialist, Dr. Kaylah Maloney.
The doctors from across the federation have started their training with the team brought along by Dr Maloney. The doctors will be trained in echocardiograms, emergency lung ultrasounds, and advanced cardiac life support.
The medical practitioners will also participate in one session of CME where they will learn about common emergency room procedures, which will be used in the JNF General Emergency Department.
The Prime Minister was thankful to the team of experts who have come to the country after heeding the call for support. The officials have shared that it is important for the medical sector of the country to have access to training opportunities so that they can improve themselves.
PM Drew stated that he was aware that it was a challenging feat to get the training team together. However he thanked Dr. Kaylah Maloney for her efforts to make this feat possible.
Notably, the people of the country have been working hard to improve the capacity of the healthcare sector of St Kitts and Nevis. For this reason, the Ministry of Health, led by Dr Drew has arranged for many training sessions.
These training sessions not only helped the doctors of the federation, but also the nursing fraternity. The emergency room training will help the doctors in the federation provide better services to their patients.
Notably, echocardiograms, emergency lung ultrasounds, and advanced cardiac life support are some basic areas where expertise is crucial. PM Drew highlighted that the training and CME sessions have been organised in St Kitts and Nevis for the first time.
Dr Terrance Drew thanked the stakeholders who have helped and supported the initiative. Thanking Dr Maloney, he said the nation is dedicated to developing healthcare in the federation.
