Biological mother, stepfather arrested for alleged rape of minor

Limpopo, South Africa: The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned an incident in which two suspects were arrested after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather on 24 September 2023 at Lulekani outside Phalaborwa in Mopani District.

CHILD PROTECTION WEEK 29 MAY – 5 JUNE 2022

Free State Department of Social Development will be observing Child Protection Week from 29 May until 5 June 2022. This is a national programme directed at preventing and responding to violence, child labour, trafficking, exploitation, harmful traditional practice and abuse against children.

Child protection week to focus on teenage pregnancy

A recent report titled; “Adolescent and Youth Health Policy” released by the Department of Health focusing on adolescent and youth district data shows that every year, girls (some between 10 and 14 years old) are among the unacceptably high number of children who gave birth. Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga registered the highest numbers.
