Mauritius: The World Health Organization (WHO) Directors for Health Promotion and the Social Determinants of Health, Dr Ruediger Krech (Headquarters) and Dr Adelheid Onyango (Regional Office of Africa), paid a courtesy call this afternoon, on the Prime Minister, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis.
Mauritius as the third country in the world, along with the Netherlands, after Turkey and Brazil, to have successfully achieved all measures according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control guidelines, was celebrated yesterday, during the launching of the ninth WHO Report on The Global Tobacco Epidemic 2023, at the Maritim Resort & Spa, Turtle Bay, Balaclava.
Mauritius: The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Jagutpal, appealed, this morning at the Caudan Arts Centre in Port Louis, to young people of 18 years and above to become new blood donors. He was speaking at the opening ceremony of a workshop organised in the context of World Blood Donor Day 2023.
Mauritius: In the context of the World No Tobacco Day 2023, observed annually on 31 May, a series of activities were launched today, in the presence of the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun and the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal, at the Shrimati Indira Gandhi State Secondary School in Quartier Millionaire.
Mauritius: A fourth batch of Police Officers, who attended the Workshop on Tobacco Control and Prevention, received their certificates yesterday, during an official ceremony held at the Diamond Hall, Special Mobile Force, in Vacoas, in the presence of the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal.
