Malawi: Police force in Thyolo have arrested three men on suspicion that the suspects were involved in a robbery and defiling incident. The victim of the said robbery incident reported that the suspects has also sexually abused his 16 year old daughter
The accident allegedly happened at the Makwasa Trading Centre in the district. The officials have shared that the incident happened in the first week of the month. The suspects have been identified by the officials of the Malawi Police Force as they continued their investigation.
Thyolo Police Station Publicist, Rebecca Kashoti confirmed the identities of the victims as 32 year old John Kanjanga, 49 yar old Wyson Kambalame and 31 year old Manuel Kambalame.
The Police Station Publicist also confirmed that the suspects were accompanied by more accomplices. These other suspects have not been arrested as of present reports.
The Police officials further detailed the robbery incident in an official media statement. The suspects left the house with a variety of items and groceries, cumulatively valued at MK2,882,550.
The Police report suggested that some of the items which were stolen include a Plasma TV, A Home Theatre, assorted groceries and more.
“Detectives at Thyolo Police apprehended the trio and recovered some of the stolen items,” said Kashoti. She further confirmed that the Police Force is continuing their interrogation and investigation into the incident.
The officials said that they will arrest other suspects to recover remaining properties.
Meanwhile, Kashoti has assured people in the area of police’s commitment to dealing with crime. The officials will do this by enhancing visibility in all crime-prone areas among other measures of security
“In this regard, police also call for cooperation and information sharing with members of the community,” said Kashoti.
Kanjanga comes from William village, Traditional Authority Mphuka in Thyolo district while the two Kambalames come from Nkunda Village, Tradition Authority Khwethemule also in the same district.
