Uganda’s Breweries appoint new Managing Director – Andrew Kilonzo

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), located in Kampala, has appointed ‘Andrew Kilonzo’ as their new managing director, and she will join the company from April 1 2022.

The appointment was confirmed via a statement that was released on February 25 Friday by UBL chairman Japheth Katto.


According to the Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), they are pleased to declare that Andrew Kilonzo has been selected as a Managing Director, Uganda Breweries Limited with effect from April 1, 2022.”

And then they added that they wish Kilonzo “Congratulations”, and we wish you success in this new assignment and have confidence that you shall transform UBL to the next level.

Kilonzo is going to replace Alvin Mbugua, who was appointed to lead the Caribbean & Central America business late last year with the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Who is Andrew Kilonzo?

Before that, Kilonzo played several Executive roles in the Diageo, and currently, he is working with META ABO BUSINESS as a managing director only in Ethiopia (Africa), where his work is to manage the transition of our Ethiopian beer business to BGI Castel, which will ensure future growth opportunities for the business and its people.

Before that, he also served as the Sales Director in Uganda (Africa) at UBL for three years from 2010-to 2013, forcing a reversal within the business during this significant period when new investment in UBL was starting.


And before that, he played a role in Ethiopia as a commercial director at Kenya Breweries Limited since 2016, where he leveraged cutting-edge technology tools to build efficiency and effectiveness. He worked hard. That is why the company got numerous Global awards on these initiatives and projects.

Kilonzo also worked as a Sales Director for the Premium Trade business in Kenya from 2013. He led the transformation of the spirit by driving a robust IPS and reserve brands’ consumer participation.
