South Africa: The Reaction Unit of South Africa has received reports of a car hijacking in the Canelands area of KZN. The victim had stopped along the R102 to urinate when his vehicle was hijacked. The vehicle in question has been identified as a white Toyota Yaris.
The incident happened during the early hours of this morning on Sunday. The victim informed the reaction Unit of South Africa that he was confronted by three hijackers. At the time, the victim was urinating somewhere on the specified location.
One of the suspects took out a firearm and tried to intimidate the victim. He subsequently asked the victim to give him all the valuables. Afterwards, the suspect forced him to enter the boot of the vehicle.
They drove the car for a short distance and dumped the victim on the roadside. They subsequently drove the car off while the victim contacted a business premises to ask for help. The victim further informed the authorities that the call for assistance was made at approximately 01:32.
Afterwards, a unit of Reaction officers was dispatched to the scene, The officers conducted a thorough search for the vehicle. However, the officials were unable to find the vehicle immediately.
A few hours later, some RUSA officers who were patrolling in Canelands – KZN recovered the car. The vehicle was found abandoned on Larson Road at approximately 06:36. The suspects had stolen three tyres & rims, the battery and sound system of the vehicle.
The country’s people have praised the officials of the Reaction Unit for their assistance in recovering the stolen vehicle. They also took to their social media accounts to express their disappointment over the situation.
Robbery and hijacking incidents have been increasing in the province. The people have accordingly urged the government and administration to take corrective measures.
The people believe that it is extremely important for the administration to work towards discouraging such incidents.
