Malawi: Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule recently attended the book launch for “The Humble Treasure,” by Prince Chinyamunyamu. The launch event for the book was hosted on Saturday in Lilongwe.
The writer of this book is a 13-year-old talented teenager of Malawi who has made his family, loved ones and nation proud. The Minister of Tourism was delighted to be a part of the book launch ceremony and encourage the youngster.
She has extended her support to the young writer who came up with the book at the tender age of 13. Notably, she has encouraged the people of Malawi to encourage more children to write books and promote a culture of reading.
She believes that the steps will help Malawi in achieving its Vision 2063 Agenda. The Minister of Tourism also congratulated the young author for his book.
Kamtukule claimed that it was very important to give the children the freedom to be creative. She cautioned that in order for this to succeed, it is important that parents do not push their ideas.
She encouraged them to let the children express their ideas in their works. She asserted that it is important for young minds to communicate with their peers in their own language.
If the parents are influencing the kids’ ideas, then the exercise becomes unproductive
Prince Chinyamunyamu thanked Minister Kamtukule for her significant contribution during the book launch. The 13 year also appreciated all the other stakeholders who supported the project with their diligent and heartfelt efforts.
The list included his Project Manager, Maureen Masamba, and his parents. He thanked them for their continued support during the publication of the book.
He claimed that without their support, it would have been impossible for him to get his talent out in the open.
He also took the opportunity to thanked Pamela Kuwali, The Country Director for Care International in Malawi,. She had taken the initiative to assist the young author through the fireside chat and question and answer segment of the book launch.
He encouraged the other youngsters and future authors to highlight their talents. He said limiting oneself can kill dreams.
