KwaZulu Natal (Verulam): A 25-year-old man sought for attempted murder was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) yesterday on Sunday.
The suspect’s relative arrived at Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters at 17:56, requesting assistance to apprehend him.
According to the 26 year old complainant, on Thursday (18/01/2024) her drug addicted relative arrived at her residence in Valley View Drive, Redcliffe – KZN.
He demanded valuables to sell to purchase drugs before he started stripping electricity cables from the house. The victim called out for assistance. The suspect sprayed insecticide in her face and attempted to suffocate her in an attempt to silence her. She then produced a knife and slashed her hands before he fled. The female registered a criminal case at the Verulam South Africa Police Station.
Yesterday, she noticed the suspect on Todd Street and proceeded to RUSA HQ for assistance. Reaction Officers proceeded to the location and immediately restrained the man.
He was detained at South Africa Police Station Verulam. Residents seemed angry at the man who tried to commit suicide. However, some residents seemed to praise RUSA and his family because his family members did not sweep this under the rug like most people.
One of the residents said, “Well done to Rusa, and Well done to his family member for not sweeping this under the rug like most people.”
On the same day, a 17-year-old girl is missing from Phoenix. Abigail Hannah Govender has been missing from her Canehaven (unit 20) home in Phoenix – Kwazulu Natal since January 21, 2024.
Govender was last seen at approx. 11:00. At the time of her disappearance, she was attired in a pair of black shorts & white tank top with a butterfly print.
Govender is an ex-pupil at Solvista Secondary School in Phoenix- KZN & is currently employed at Shalom Auto Body in Mt Edgecombe – KZN.
