South Africa: Walter Sisulu Local Municipality Council (WSLM) approved the coming financial year’s Budget of R405 million for the medium term and a five-year Integrated Development Plan (IDP) during a Special Council Meeting that was held at Burgersdorp on Wednesday, following their tabling by the mayor Cllr. Vania Davids.
They were tabling these strategic documents for the financial year that is set to begin on the 01 July 2022, until 2024/2025 for the budget and until 2026/2027 for the IDP.
According to Davids, it was important for the Council to approve them to comply with Municipal Finance Management Act.
She said this was the final budget and Integrated Development Plan was a culmination of an extensive consultative outreach programme where a community of Walter Sisulu in all wards were given an opportunity to prioritise their development needs.
“This is a programme of action for the financial year starting on 01 July 2021 until 2026/2027 and is informed by the needs of Walter Sisulu residents. With it, we will continue with our strides in advancing their development. It will be reviewed annually through a public participation outreach programme,” she said.
