Zambia: Zambia Army and Chreso University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with each other on Saturday. The aim of the MoU is to help in enhancing the higher education credentials of officers and soldiers.
The two organizations work for the development and maintenance of two distinct but crucial sectors of Zambia economy. The collaboration between the two organizations will help in furthering the mutual objectives of both the organizations.
Speaking during the signing ceremony at Army headquarters, Adjutant General, Brigadier General Nathan Chiselwa discussed the importance of the MoU. He said the long awaited MOU intends to tackle three vital areas for the two organizations.
These include:
- Consultations on all matters of mutual interest through designated liaison officers
- Provision of short and tailored programmes
- Upholding high ethical and quality standards throughout the duration of programmes.
Brigadier General Chiselwa added that the open door policy that Zambia Army has embraced will propel enhanced engagement that will grow the relationship to greater heights.
“We will ensure the partnership yields the intended results and becomes beneficial to both parties of the MOU,” he added.
Zambia Army Director General of Education, Libraries and Museums, Brigadier General Kennedy Sialoombe challenged Chreso University to provide top-notch services as covered in the MOU.
“The Army has become a go-to-institution for various partnerships in the education sphere, hence the need for your institution to go beyond the expectations in this popular market,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chreso University Vice Chancellor, Professor Mony Narayani hailed the Army for fulfilling the partnership with the university.
” The culmination of this MOU is testatment of the continued efforts by the Army to see more officers and soldiers attain tertiary education,” she said.
Prof Narayani assured the Army that her institution will provide high quality services.
“We have noted with great admiration the insatiable appetite from Command to modernise, and we are poised to contribute to the cause by training the officers and soldiers,” she added.
