Zambia: The FAZ Disciplinary Committee has handed out a number of fines and Suspensions to Eastern Province teams.
Chipata City Council, Mikalile FC, Young Nkwazi and Malambo United are among the teams found guilty of abrogating numerous regulations contained in the disciplinary code.
Chipata City Council players and officials allegedly attacked the referee following a 3-2 loss to Mikalile in a Football Association of Zambia Eastern Province Division One fixture.
The match between Young Nkwazi and Malambo United was abandoned, with Young Nkwazi now fined K10,000 for causing abandonment, and the match has been forfeited in favour of Malambo United with a three-nil score line.
Following the FAZ disciplinary committee sitting held on 2nd December 2023, The Football Association of Zambia has charged eastern province FAZ soccer clubs found guilty of abrogating numerous regulations contained in the disciplinary code.
Five Chipata City Council Football Club players & two technical officials were found guilty of assaulting a match official. Namely, goalkeepers Emmanuel Zulu & Timothy Banda, Farai Sithole, Martin Mwanza, and Blessings Sakala have been sanctioned with a six-month suspension plus a K5000 fine each.
Team head Coach Vincent Chisanga and physical trainer John Phiri have been sanctioned with a 12 months suspension plus a K5,000 fine each for bringing the name of the game & association into disrepute & inciting violence, while the team has been fined K10,000 & will play their seven home games at Gondar Barracks ground without carrying any supporters.
Mikalile FC has been fined K5000, while their team official John Nyirenda has been fined K5000 with a one-match ban for unsporting conduct & violating the principles of fair play when he attempted to influence the match officials to change the match balls.
Young Nkwazi has been sanctioned & fined K10,000 for causing an abandonment when they played Malambo Utd & the match has been forfeited in favour of Malambo United with a three-nil score line, while their head coach Keegan Mwape has been sanctioned & fined K5000 with a 3 match suspension for bringing the game, club & association into disrepute.
Malambo UTD has also been fined K5000 & will play their next 2 home games at Chips United ground.
2 Sinda utd players, Mathews Daka & Innocent Phiri, were found guilty of assaulting a match official during their game against Katete. Rangers have been sanctioned with a six-month suspension & fined K5000 each.
Disciplinary committee secretary Shepherd Mulwanda said all aggrieved clubs have the right to appeal within 72hrs. Other verdicts will be shared.
