Zambia (Kembe): Zambia is mourning the loss of one of its prominent political leaders, Minister Ronnie Shikapwash, leaving residents and leaders in a deep dilemma.
Political leaders of Zambia sympathise with ministers, and political leaders from Central Province have described the late former Cabinet Minister Ronnie Shikapwasha as a gallant soldier who was a hard worker and a leader who was readily available for the people.
In an interview with Media, Central Province Minister Princess Kasune said the late Lieutenant General Shikapwasha did not segregate but embraced everyone regardless of their status.
Kasune noted that the late Minister also worked on a number of projects in Kembe Constituency, which he undertook and completed.
She noted that projects ranging from schools and roads, among others, were undertaken where people’s lives were improved.
“The people of Kembe constituency are crying. Lieutenant General Shikapwasha was a Member of Parliament before me. And he did a number of projects there, which I will also emulate and ride on,” Kasune said.
Chibombo Council Chairperson Newton Nyeleti has also described the late Lieutenant General Shikapwasha as a man who worked hard and was very accommodating.
Nyeleti noted that the late Lieutenant General also worked very well with all the chiefs in the province.
He said the people of Central Province will remember him for many projects, such as the construction of Kafushi Secondary School, which is one of the best schools now.
Nyeleti noted that the late Minister will also be remembered for how he fought to ensure that Chief Chitanda’s chiefdom is connected to the national electricity grid.
“The electricity that you are seeing there is as a result of the late Shikapwasha’s work. This man worked so hard to also construct a secondary called Kafushi, and as we are talking now, it is one of the the best schools there,” Nyeleti observed.
