Zambia (Misisi): Police in Lusaka recorded an accident involving a Zambia Railways Goods Train and a Howo Sino Truck and Trailer in Lusaka, Misisi on Tuesday.

The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon along Tokyo-way near Misisi Compound in Lusaka when the driver of the Truck bearing registration numbers BCD 3403 and BCFT 3113 failed to give way to the Goods Train, which had a right of way.

The Train was headed for Southern Province while the Truck was moving towards the eastern direction from the Misisi compound area towards Kamwala South direction.

According to the reports, no injuries have been recorded from occupants of both the Train and the Truck so far.

Moreover, Officers from the Zambia Police Service and Road Transport and Safety Agency are currently on the scene to regulate traffic.

Residents are in deep shock and blame the truck driver for this incident. One of the residents, Moses Z Banda, said, “If it’s on that stretch, it’s really a blind spot, especially if the Train is going the southern direction from town…you can only criticize the driver if you don’t drive and RDA need to improve on-road furniture.. otherwise tough luck trucker.”

“These things of trains and trucks are getting out of hand. What’s wrong with our trucks today? Bwana brings him to book,” said the other local residents.

At the same time, residents and locals are also blaming the roads and the government. People also believe that roads should not be near rail tracks as the government failed to protect the local’s safety.

Moreover, some people do not judge or pass judgment on anyone and try to remain neutral.

Another resident said, “Too bad my brother, friends, and fellow drivers never judge your fellow driver. You don’t know the actual mistake, maybe. It’s a brake system, so he failed to negotiate the truck. Think before you judge before shit more than this one befall you. God bless no injuries, my brother. We thank the almighty.”
