The government of Zambia, under the leadership of Hakainde Hichilema swore in four elected members of the cabinet into their respective offices. The members of the national assembly were given their mandates during a ceremony hosted on September 14, 2026.
As a part of the ceremony, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane was sworn in as the Minister of Finance. Mulambo Haimbe was given the charge of Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dr Gilbert Siame was handed the responsibility for the Minister of Green Economy; and Prof. Roma Chilengi was given the charge for the Minister of Health.
The President of Zambia shared several images from the event on his social media. The government information service also shared the video from the ceremony handing over the charge of the various ministries to their respective Ministers.
The President of Zambia congratulated all the newly appointed members of the cabinet and urged them to work hard. The President also recalled the charge that the public has entrusted them with, in this mandate the President of the country said, “Our charge is clear: advance the Grow Zambia Agenda by putting our nation first, upholding integrity, rejecting corruption, working hard and smart, and delivering measurable results for our people.”
The President of Zambia highlighted the importance of holding public office in the country after being chosen and trusted by the people. The head of state has shared that “Public office is a trust. Every Ministry must therefore become an engine of the Grow Zambia Agenda.”
The President used the opportunity to call on the people of the country to help them in driving investment, production and job creation, strengthening public services and translating economic growth into improved livelihoods for every Zambian.
Together, the nation has to work, produce and Grow Zambia as the nation embarks on a renewed journey.
