Lusaka: The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) is ensuring the safety of citizens as Colera badly damaged the country.
On their official social media account, ZAMMSA said that their priority is to ensure Zambians are timely supplied with medicines and medical supplies.
Moreover, in their recent post, they clarified the misinformation that is circulating on all social media pages.
ZAMMSA said, “The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) would like to dismiss information being circulated in some sections of the media that the Mosquito Nets we are distributing across the country are hazardous.”
ZAMMSA is dismayed by the motives of the deceitful people peddling this misleading information because these long-lasting treated insecticide Mosquito nets are aimed at preventing the outbreak of Malaria in communities. We can never downplay the adverse repercussions of Malaria on the general populace.
Since the commencement of the mass distribution, the Agency has achieved a flawless 100% distribution of over 5.1 million mosquito nets to the Copperbelt, Central, and Southern Provinces, while Lusaka has reached a commendable 60% distribution rate.
It is, therefore, worrying that while the Government of the Republic of Zambia has ramped up efforts to protect the public from Malaria, some ill-informed elements have found it prudent to maliciously mislead and discourage the public from using the freely distributed mosquito nets. We should not ignore the glaring fact that Malaria remains a major public health challenge in our country.
ZAMMSA would like to assure the public that the mosquito nets being distributed have undergone quality assurance and safety tests to guarantee the safety of the beneficiaries. Any information that states otherwise should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves.
ZAMMSA reiterates its unwavering commitment to our vision of procuring, storing and distributing quality and cost-effective medicines and medical supplies to all Zambians.
