Kenya: Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy Ababu Namwamba hosted the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Kenya Dr Salim AlNaqbi. The aim of the meeting was to streamline partnerships pertaining to the proposed Zayed Charity Marathon Kenya Chapter.
Cabinet Secretary Namwamba has been entertaining collaborative opportunities for the development of the Kenyan Sports Sector. The cabinet secretary has been meeting various stakeholders and partners from around the world.
His interaction with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador was also about ensuring the two nations’ continued collaboration. The Ministry of Youth Affairs Sports et al, shared glimpses from the meeting on their social media platforms.
According to the ministry, the meeting centred around re-assurances & roll-out strategies through a cross-nit collaboration. The ministry said that they would ensure the event is a success with a targeted culmination of facilitating an identified community hospital from the returns of the race.
During and before the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary and Ambassador Dr Salim AlNaqbi talked about various initiatives. These initiatives include the possible structure of the marathon, participation criteria, designated venues, race paths, and schedule alignments with the Athletics Kenya Calendar.
The CS hinted at fronting a local marathon legend as a possible face and poster image of the event. Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba believes that the event will attract marathoners far and wide.
He shared that the initiative was humane and noble, that deserved the Ministry’s full support. The people of the country appreciated the ministry’s efforts to uplift the sports sector of the country.
The Cabinet Secretary has been an ardent supporter of the youngsters of the country. The Zayed charity marathon, thought of by the Ministry of Sports and the Embassy of United Arab Emirates, will serve as a tribute to the relationship between the two nations as well as bring the talents of the local athletes to the forefront.
