Zootopia 2 has become one of the biggest movies in the history of cinema. Released in Nov 2025 it has received the biggest opening that any animated movie has ever. Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard the movie has turned a $150 million budget into a record shattering global opening.
After getting released in US, China and major markets across the world, Zootopia 2 pulled an estimated collection of $556 million from Wednesday to Sunday, which is the biggest animated opening ever.
Debut of Zootopia 2 is the 4th largest global opening in the movie history, which is roughly counts to $400 million and above its production cost of worth $150 million.
Zootopia 2 shows how a focused $150 million budget and huge global demand can combine into a movie that turns opening weekend into serious cash earning. The profit earned is $406 million, which is collection of just the first weekend.

Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment – Alan Bergman said that they have received an incredible response to Zootopia 2 which reflects both its worldwide appeal and the remarkable work of the filmmakers and cast.
“It’s a proud moment for Disney Animation and all of them at Disney, not to mention a great way to start the holiday season,” said Bergman.
Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation and Writer-Director of Zootopia 2 – Jared Bush said that there’s something about animals that people can read themselves into.
“The real fun thing about Zootopia is that you can identify with an animal. That’s you, that’s your friend, that’s your teacher, that’s a guy you saw at the DMV. There’s something very universal about that,” added Bush.
The movie plots around detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde who find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile and turns the mammal metropolis of Zootopia upside down. Testing their growing partnership like never before, they go under cover in new parts if town to crack the case.

Zootopia 2 premiered in Los Angeles on Nov 13, in US on Nov 26 and in India on Nov 28. The film received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $955.7 million becoming the fourth highest grossing film of the year 2025.
