Zambia: Two mobile money agents in Luanshya on Thursday were shot at night and wounded by three armed criminals who ran away from the scene after stealing unspecified amounts of money.
The incident took place around 8:00 p.m. on Datura Avenue, which is adjacent to Roan Shopping Mall, and has sent shockwaves through the community.
As per the reports, the Copperbelt police commanding officer – Peacewell Mweemba, said that the two victims were identified as Peter Daka, aged 24 and Agness Bwalya, aged 35, who was shot dead after hitting on the left foot.
Mweemba also reported that it was recorded that a case of aggravated robbery in Luanshya was reported at Central Police Station.
The commanding officer said that the three assailants who were armed with a suspected pistol, quickly ran away from the scene in a Toyota Ipsum vehicle after firing five gunshots.
Officer Mweemba also reported that the victims were shot as they were approaching their motor vehicle. An undisclosed amount of money has been robbed from the victim who deal in electronic money transactions.

According to the narration by Copperbelt Police commanding officer – Peacewell Mweemba, both Daka and Bwalya were admitted to Roan Antelope General Hospital, where they remained in stable condition.
The officer also said that a docket of the heinous crime has been opened while his officers have been mobilised on the ground to apprehend the perpetrators.
Such cases in Zambia are occurring frequently as they have increased now. The increase in the cases have rise the concern among the citizens in relation to their security and safety.
The Zambia Police face several such cases on the daily basis and tackle them. Cases such as robbery, theft, killing, poaching, looting, and many other have increased now.
The police also receive the cases related to accidents that occur on roads due rash driving and drinking and driving case.
The armed criminals are on the list of the Zambia Cops as they are killing people frequently and are amongst the top ones in the crime.
